NORTH ROCKY VIEW COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE
ANNOUNCE
NATIONAL PRECEDENT SETTING MERGER
Airdrie, Alberta, October 3, 2007 – Airdrie Family Services Society (AFSS) and the North Rocky View Community Resource Centre (NRVCRC) officially announced the unanimous ratification of a motion to merge their two agencies.
“This is such a positive, strategic, and high-impact decision. Our combined resources and commitment will see exceptional services being delivered to the communities. It truly establishes a precedent for collaboration within our growing province of Alberta” stated Christopher Harper, Chair of the Board for Airdrie Family Services Society.
Diane Shaw, Chair of the Board for the North Rocky View Community Resource Centre agrees. “We feel this is a demonstration of a proactive attitude towards serving the communities and the rapid growth being experienced throughout. One agency will have a stronger regional presence and a voice recognized as equal to the surrounding larger jurisdictions.”
Alberta is not the only province where a precedent is being set by the announced merger. The new organization will be assuming coordination of the Airdrie Seniors Outreach Program. This will establish the new organization as the only ‘not-for-profit society’ in Canada offering services for individuals at every stage of their lives based on research done by the boards.
“Community members can be assured that the organization resulting from our merger will be capable and ready to support them at every stage of their lives, no matter how significant the challenge. We will be there for them at birth and in their latter days” assured Harper.
Speaking to the process going forward, Shaw stated “The next several months will see our agencies conducting regulatory and operational requirements related to the merger with the hope that the benefits of our decision will begin to be realized come January 2008”.
Airdrie Family Services Society and the North Rocky View Community Resource Centre expressed gratitude towards their funders and stakeholders.
“We would never have been able to realize the significant benefits this decision will have without their support” exclaimed Shaw with a smile.
Harper agreed “The vitality of our agencies is closely linked to the contributions of our funders and our stakeholders. We are so grateful they were able to realize the benefits our decision will deliver and look forward to their continued support as our new agency is born.”
